Water testing is an important part of the Leisure Club, this ensures a safe environment for the users of the pools across the facility. Once water testing has been completed and the results compared to the guidelines, if needed corrections need to be performed to the water quality.
DPD1 – Free Chlorine
- Clean 2 x test tubes thoroughly and rinse out twice in pool water.
- Fill one to 10ml with sample – all samples must be taken from the sample points on the chemical controllers.
- Decant approximately 1ml of sample water from the first tube into the second.
- Add DPD No 1 tablet, avoiding touching it.
- Crush and stir with cleansed stirrer.
- Observe pink colour developing in sample.
- Decant remainder of water from the first tube into the second, thereby topping it up to 10 ml mark. If the pink colour disappears there is a problem of over chlorination.
- Fill the empty tube with pool water to 10ml mark for use as the “blank”.
- Switch on and select free chlorine test mode.
- Insert the tube filled with plain pool water “blank” and cover with plastic cap.
- Press OK.
- Once “Blanked”, Insert DPD1 Sample and cover with plastic cap.
- Press OK.
- Free Chlorine reading will appear.
DPD3 – Total Chlorine
- Add a DPD3 tablet to the same test tube, avoid touching it.
- Crush and stir with a cleansed stirrer.
- Wait 2 minutes for the pink colour to develop fully.
- Insert the sample tube into the photometer to complete the measurement exactly as described for the free chlorine test.
